Horror Cocktails
Below are the cocktails we have paired with each movie. Along with the picture of each cocktail, we have included the website/source where we found the cocktail and if we liked it or not. If you click the link, a new window will open with the cocktail recipe.

Tennessee Cocktail
Paired with the Evil Dead. We were pleasantly surprised by this drink. Typically, we hate maraschino liqueur, but the rye whiskey complimented it very well. There was just a hint of cherry flavor, and it was mostly tart. Are there better drinks out there? Sure. But if Luxardo is your thing, you'll probably really like this drink.

Magic Bus
Paired with Trick 'r Treat. The tequila really comes through in this drink, so if you're a tequila drinker, this one is for you. It's a stiff drink, so it'll get you buzzed quickly. If you're not a tequila drinker, it's fine. I would recommend drinking something else, but you won't gag on it.

Poltergeist Potion
Paired with Poltergeist. This is a layered drink, so it takes a bit of skill to make. In the picture on the original recipe, the colors are flip-flopped from ours, so we tried it the opposite way the next time, and one of us liked it better. The drink is bigger than you think, so be sure to use a large glass.
Find the recipe olga.quick.recipes on Instagram:
1 oz pineapple juice (yellow layer)
1 oz coconut rum (yellow layer)
1 oz blue curaçao (blue layer)
1 oz vodka (blue layer)

Little Brother
Paired with Talk to Me. This drink is interesting because it contains a scoop of ice cream in the shaker. The drink is relatively simple to make, but the scoop does not melt in the shaker. It leaves a hunk of ice cream behind, which does pour out in the drink. One of us thought the drink was very good, and the other thought it was too alcohol-y. We did omit the vanilla when we had the second drink, and we didn't like it as much. A con of this drink is that you have to drink it quickly so the ice cream doesn't get warm.

Spider Venom
Paired with Arachnophobia. Making this drink isn't for the faint of heart. The blackberries don't crush very well due to the seeds in it, so you probably need to use a cheesecloth and slllooowwwllllyyyy pour the drink from the shaker to get all of the seeds out. Otherwise, all the pulp gets caught in your mouth while you're drinking, and it looks like you have blood clots coming out of your mouth. The flavor is great; it is a little tart. We thought maybe using blackberry syrup and leaving out the blackberries and simple syrup may work, but we haven't tested that theory. We really liked this drink, but it's too much work to make and drink.

Black Hole
Paired with Monster Squad. This drink takes some forethought because it requires freezing orange juice before making the drink. It is a visually appealing drink (although it is NOT the color it is in the original website), so if you want to spice up your brunch look, this could be it. Be gentle when removing your shot glass; we recommend twisting it a bit before trying to pull it out. Additionally, the orange juice will unfreeze from the center quickly, so don't take them out until your guests are ready to drink. This is a mimosa, plain and simple.

Smokestack
Paired with Sinners. Don't let the blueberry syrup scare you away from this drink. It does make the drink a bit sweet, but it is not overbearing. At first taste, the bourbon flavor is very light because the drink is topped with seltzer water, so you may want to stir everything before drinking. The recommended seltzer water for this drink (not the one in the picture) is a lot stronger than typical blackberry seltzer water, but it tastes more like pop, so make the decision on what type of seltzer water you'd like.
This recipe is from the Kovira Bar on TikTok:
1 oz blueberry syrup
1 oz bourbon
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz blue curacao
Top with blackberry seltzer (specifically Clearly Canadian mountain blackberry)

Explosion
Paired with Final Destination. This drink has an easily findable ingredient, but an ingredient we didn't realize was an actual ingredient: Liquid Smoke. It is carried in most grocery stores, but we lit the cinnamon stick (powder) on fire again, which honestly did nothing. We really enjoyed this drink, and if you use Patron, the drink is very good and full of flavor. If you don't use Patron, this is a light drink and margarita-ish. The cinnamon does come through! We recommend trying this one out!

Split Beaver Cocktail
Paired with Zombeavers. Even though gin is the base alcohol, it is very peach heavy. This would be good for a hot summer day because the tonic water dilutes the peach so it is not sickeningly sweet. Overall, this drink is okay, but it won't become a go-to cocktail. Forgettable but not gross.

Wolf Man Cocktail
Paired with Wolf Man. Allison really liked this drink, but Marie did not. It is very peach-heavy, so it ends up being quite sweet. However, Allison used tonic water, whereas Marie used club soda, so that may have made a difference. It is a light drink.

Lake Michigan Froth
Paired with Dawn of the Dead. This drink is a great summer drink; it's light and frothy (glad it lives up to its namesake). One of us did use different ingredients (one by accident), and it still resulted in a great drink. The substitutions were angostura bitters and pineapple seltzer water. There's only one ounce of gin in the recipe, so it's not very gin heavy, making it the perfect gin drink for new or reluctant gin drinkers.

Corpse Reviver No. 2
Paired with Jason IV. This drink is interesting. It's the first time we ever completed a rinse, and we were skeptical that it would be worth it, but the flavor really came through. This was a surprisingly good drink. It's a tart drink, but we recommend trying it. Be sure to use Cointreau!

Rum Runner
Paired with Graduation Day. This is a well-known drink that's fairly popular. For whatever reason, our version did not live up to the hype (we blamed the sloe gin). You're supposed to use some type of berry liqueur, and we think the type we used clashed with the grenadine—another one of our least favorite flavors (cherry). For the second drink, we left out the grenadine and sloe gin to see if the drink improved, and it did not; the lime was too much. Adding the grenadine and more pineapple juice helped, but it's not a preferred drink.

Panties Unleashed Cocktail
Paired with Heretic. If you stage the drink like the picture, which is a super-cute way to serve a drink, be forewarned that all of the vodka will be in the top of the class, so be sure to stir it up! Even after stirring, we found this drink to be vodka-heavy. We tried to use a flavored vodka (passionfruit) for the second drink, but we both found it too sweet.

Lipstick Face Demon Cocktail
Paired with Insidious. On this episode, Allison took a stand and decided to create her own cocktail recipe to match this movie. While delicious, layering the black vodka with the red ingredients didn't quite work out. This recipe turned out to be quite tart, so if that's not your bag, up the simple syrup or reduce the lime juice. Originally, we included only one ounce of vodka, but we found that we couldn't taste it enough, so we upped it to two ounces. This drink is a keeper!
Recipe:
2 oz vodka
2 oz cranberry juice
1/2 oz lime
Spoon of grenadine

The Mustache
Paired with Nosferatu. Also known as a Manly Mimosa (honestly, if you're a man and can't admit you like a regular mimosa, you need to work on yourself), this mimosa adds beer and vodka to the mix. We chose this drink because Count Orlok's mustache is like a car crash: can't look away even though it's terrible. This drink is is good, but it is a lot of liquid. Drinking two in a short amount of time was a challenge for that reason; however, if you put two shots of vodka in your recipe, you'll definitely get tipsy faster! It will also give you more of a vodka taste if that's your thing.

Birthday Cake Martini
Paired with Longlegs. Without giving too much away, we chose this drink because birthdays are a large plot point in the movie. We did not care for this drink at all, mostly due to the amaretto. It gave the drink more of a cough medicine taste (granted, neither of us like cherry-flavored drinks that much). For the second drink, we changed the recipe to tailor the drink to our taste, and it made it a lot better (2 shots vanilla vodka, 1 shot white chocolate liqueur, 1. shot of half and half).

Barrow Blues
Paired with 30 Days of Night. This drink pairs with the movie because the name of the town where it's set is Barrow, Alaska, and its citizens are having a rough go—hence, the blues. Like a lot of our drinks, one of us liked it, and one of us didn't. It is a very summery drink, and if you like rum and coconut, you'll most likely like this drink. However, if rum isn't your jam (or you threw it up one too many times in your younger years), you'll probably hate it.

Ballet Russe
Paired with Abigail. The titular character of this movie loves ballet (sometimes using it in her kills), so this recipe matched the movie perfectly. However, this drink does not go down the gullet perfectly. It's very chemical-y, like something you would clean the house with. We determined that the lemon juice and creme de cassis do not jive.

Hannibal Lecter
Paired with Silence of the Lambs. This drink is all bourbon in taste. The chianti and apple cider don't do much to blend with anything, and since bourbon has such a strong taste, they disappear. Don't waste the time and money in buying apple cider to drink this drink—just go straight bourbon.

Activator
Paired with The Substance. This drink was made by someone (visit the link below) just for this movie. Activator is a key part of the substance's process. To be honest, we did not add the chili liqueur in this recipe. It's a special ingredient we would have had to order ahead, and we couldn't find a place to order it from. We didn't like this drink the first time we made it, but we upgraded the quality of the vodka for the second drink, and it made a huge difference. So, if you decide to make this drink, go big with the tequila.

Rage Elixir
Paired with 28 Days Later. Despite its name and its description, it is not that heavy of a drink. It is a light drink without a lot of alcohol, so it goes down easily. One of us didn't have ginger syrup, so she used ginger ale instead of soda water and ginger syrup, and it turned out fine.

Boss Bitch Spritz
Paired with Speak No Evil. Our drink recipe ended up a little bit different because the official recipe called for a specific gin that is watermelon flavored. We thought this recipe was gin-heavy; however, it may have been because we didn't have the gin the recipe called for. We suggest using a flavored gin to get the full effect of this drink.

Toxic as Fuck
Paired with The Return of the Living Dead. This is our first time doing shots on the podcast (well, for the main drink at least). The drink has a cool appearance, so it definitely has a wow factor. HOWEVER, the layers start to bleed together if it sits too long, so we will caution you about making too many to serve at once because it will not maintain its appearance for more than 15 to 20 minutes. This drink tastes like a shot of alcohol—it's a strong vodka taste with a hint of sweetness. If you're going to make this instead of doing a regular shot, it should definitely be for its looks. Unfortunately, we can no longer find the website with this recipe, so we are unable to post the website. It is a half shot melon liqueur, a half shot pineapple mango juice, and a half shot of black vodka. If you cant find black vodka, you can mix regular vodka with edible glitter or activated charcoal in a separate glass beforehand.

Privileged Pubescent Prosecco
Paired with Better Watch Out. This drink was just like one of the main characters in the movie: gross (and we aren't telling which character). With its ingredients, we were hoping for something that tasted like a Dole Whip, but it just tasted . . . bad. It was more sour than sweet; we think the prosecco didn't blend very well with the coconut milk and pineapple. We do not recommend.
