Horror Movies
Below are movies that we have covered along with our ratings and the cocktails we paired with each movie. Click on the picture for the cocktail that we paired for each movie. For the cocktail recipes, click on the link at the end of the blurb.

At Least She's Not Your Mom
An oldie but a goodie? We're not so sure. This movie seems like a "one and done" deal. Once you know the twist and the main scene, there isn't much left to it--except to criticize the job Nicole Kidman does as a mom. This movie won a prestigious Spanish award when it came out, but for us, there's barely any likeable characters or scares. Paired with a Ghost Story.

Spoilers Ahead!
This movie is another wild ride that begins with questionable choices from both main characters (one more so than the other). This is another movie where, like Weapons, we would love some backstory on where the ... main facilitator of the bad guy ... comes from. We really enjoyed this movie, even with its tonal shifts. This is another body horror movie with an expected ending! Paired with a Better Together.

The One Where Frankenstein is a Verb
This is another wild ride brought to you by Jason Voorhees. You have to have seen the Jason V to understand the main plot point of this movie and get the idea of why they did it (fan rebellion). This movie has silly kills and definitely picks up the violence from the last movie, which cut out certain kill scenes for a lower parental guidance rating. We highly enjoyed this installment! Paired with a Campfire Mule.

Maybe Not So Horror
This movie got mixed reviews from us. As a movie, we liked it; as a horror movie, it falls a bit short. This is definitely an 80s classic and should be seen. The message never gets old, and may be more topically than ever, as we are all glued to our screens! Enjoy the silly side effects and iconic one-liners! Paired with Cheap Sunglasses.

Girls Being Girls
Get on your pouty faces for Midsommar! This unique folk horror movie helped reboot horror into a new age (yes, we're saying that even if no one else has). Even though this movie is a slow burn, it has plenty of disturbing visuals and what the fuck moments to keep your eyes glued to the TV. This one is a can't-miss (and so is the drink!). Paired with a Tush Push.

The Saga Continues
We continue our Friday the 13th tradition with Part V! Cue up the movie and follow along as we discuss the craziness that comes with this series. This failed re-launch of Jason hits hard with the comedy, particular when it comes to a port-a-potty. You'll definitely want to watch and listen so you're caught up for Part VI (not sarcasm!). Paired with an Ambulance.

Horror Lite!
We branded this movie as a new genre: horror lite! It combines horror and comedy, and it's easy to tell when violence is coming so any scaredy-cats can close their eyes. We enjoyed this movie, even though one of us didn't think it was scary enough. Enjoy this horror-comedy-romance with a partner or group of friends! Paired with a Bleeding Heart ... and a Pikachu.

They Make 4-Wheel Drive for a Reason
This movie based on a Stephen King novel is perfect for cold weather. This is Kathy Bates's breakout role, and she shows just what a great actor she is. A rescue turns into torture when a writer's number one fan doesn't like his latest work. You gotta watch! Paired with a Dirty Bird.

Oh, Gladys
Thank goodness this movie is getting a prequel! We had unanswered question about the villain in this movie, and we are happy that we get to find out more! This movie is scary, and we love the way each storyline builds on the next. Whereas there aren't that many likeable characters, you can't help but watch to find out what happens to them. Paired with a Vanishing Hour.

It Was Going So Well!
This movie was a pleasant surprise! Even though we thought this movie went too far at the end, we enjoyed this movie. It was a unique premise that painted capitalism as the bad guy, and there's a badass female who takes down what is wreaking havoc in the movie. Give this one a shot! Paired with a Bad Santa.

P2 or PU (Sorry not sorry about the pun)
Our first Christmas movie for 2025! This movie was surprisingly gory, but some weird plot choices (chicken in a parking garage?!) turned us off of this movie. Paired with a P2.

WTF Did We Just Watch?
There are no words to describe this movie, what it's about, or what it symbolizes. Basically, because we have no idea how to answer any of those questions. We both really liked this movie and found it mesmerizing, but man, was it fucked up. We can't wait to watch it again and see if we can find some meaning in the madness!. Paired with a Rocking Chair.

This Monkey is the Worst
And we don't mean the monkey in the movie; we mean the movie The Monkey. We think this movie went for laughs, most of them fell flat. The deaths were cartoonish and ridiculous. We couldn't find one thing to redeem this movie. If it wasn't for conversation about other things, this podcast would have been 20 minutes long. The best thing to come out of this movie was the drink we found. Paired with a Drunken Monkey.

Scott = Bad. Ash = Useless.
This movie is a cult classic that started a trilogy and a TV show; however, it's unique in its own world because it is the only part of the franchise that's a straight horror movie. Our opinions were split on how scary this movie was, as some of the visuals could be considered outdated. The one scene that remained uncomfortable was the SA scene with the tree. Paired with a Tennessee cocktail.

Perfect for Halloween Night
We could see this movie competing with OG Halloween for the premiere Halloween watch—depending on the vibe of course. Trick 'r Treat is a multi-story movie where all stories have ties with each other. This is a more lighthearted movie . . . gore and murder notwithstanding . . . and it introduces new Halloween folklore that's kind of cool! Plus, you shouldn't miss out on lil Sam, who is a total cutie. Paired with a Magic Bus.

It's heeerrrreeeee
Yes, yes, it's not an exact quote, but the pronoun had to match the singular podcast. This movie is classic from the 80s, and it is a pop/horror culture icon. Whereas some of the special effects may not quite hit like they used to, there are still plenty that do, including a creepy ass clown that is never not scary. We recommend doing a double feature with this movie and Insidious to compare parenting skills. Paired with a Poltergeist Potion.

The Frontal Lobe Strikes Again
This A24 got rave reviews, and a sequel is supposedly in the works. This movie is pretty enjoyable if you're not looking for cracks, and the visual effects (AKA scares) are fantastic. Get ready to not like any character and to long for karma to have its way with them. Paired with a Little Brother.

Man Just Never Learns
This movie would have been easily avoidable if greedy men hadn't gone into the rainforest and killed a bunch of bugs on their quest for knowledge and recognition. But they did, and unknowingly unleashed an angry, sentient spider on a small Washington town. This movie is peak 90s, and even though we have some critiques at the end, it is a solid movie that's perfect for horror novices. Paired with a Spider Venom cocktail

Blast from the Past
This listener request had us rolling our eyes asking "Why?" If you were young when this movie came out, the nostalgia factor will get you, but the plot leaves a lot to be desired, as there are plot holes a semi could fit through. This movie raises a lot of questions, not the least of which is "What exactly constitutes a virgin?" Paired with Black Hole.

Two Movies in One
Sinners is literally stunning. The visuals, the story, and the horror blend together seamlessly to create one of the best movies of 2025. While we wouldn't call this movie strictly horror, as there are many (maybe more) elements of drama, we recommend it as a can't-miss. The special effects are fantastic (well, most of them. Listen up to hear what isn't!), and the music complements the story in such a way. Paired with a Smokestack.

The Origin Story for Many People's Fear of Flying
This movie not only instilled a fear of flying for a generation; it also sparked an iconic horror franchise that spans decades. This movie's kills (fate or death?!) are creative and suspenseful, regardless of how liquids seem to always be involved. If you haven't seen this movie since the early 2000s, we recommend queuing it up and taking a walk down memory lane. Paired with an Explosion.

Who Doesn't Like Poorly Made Creature Features?
Allison, that's who. And that's not quite true; she just doesn't like THIS poorly made creature feature. Marie, however, liked it a lot. This movie is filled with terrible people, bad special effects, and a surprising ending. But you have to admire a movie that knows what it's all about, and this one does. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and if the viewers don't either, it could be a possible fun ride. Paired with a Split Beaver Cocktail.

New Take on an Old Legend
This movie maintains some of the well-known traits of werewolves and departs from others. Even though there is a thin reasoning as to why in the first ten seconds of the movie, we think it should have been made more prominent to help build the connection for viewers. This movie had some interesting elements, but overall, it fell flat for us. Paired with a Wolf Man cocktail

Mall = Survival
Nothing can beat a George A. Romero zombie movie—even if it is a remake. This movie goes from zero to 60 in the first five minutes, and the drama continues throughout. This movie is chockful of questionable decisions, weird redemption arcs, and great gore. It's a can't-miss! Paired with a Lake Michigan.

Wilder and wilder
This is arguably the best installment of the franchise. Some of the plot points make no sense (a porn from the 1920s?!), and the way Jason is defeated is insane (way to go, baby Corey Feldman). I can't imagine that Tommy (Corey Feldman) won't need therapy for life, but hey, at least his dog survived! Paired with a Corpse No. 2.
